Ryu-Gi's General Art Thread 2011

A thread for all my visual work this year, be it drawings, Gmod, or regular 3D work.

First up is are anatomically correct mouth parts that I'll be using for future realistic characters.

I worked closely with my Mom (Who's a dentist) on this to make sure the shape and positioning of the teeth, etc. were exact to real life. Yes, it is low poly and the textures are low-resolution, this is because normally you won't see the inside of a character's mouth too often, therefore it's not as important, and therefore it dosen't need to be as detailed.

My mom was very happy about the way this turned out, so much that she wants me to make more stuff like this to help her out with her work. It ain't game design but if it gives me an income It'll be worth it, I guess.

Looks good, Ryu. Nice job!

The canines look a little thick to me, but that's probs due to the angle.

Last year I ended up making like 3 or 4 different threads, which I shouldn't have, so now this year, I firmly resolve to use one thread ONLY, and this is that one only new thread.

Or you could've just kept it to the same thread like everyone else.

I can merge the previous threads into this one, or a separate single thread, if you want to keep things neat.

Symuun, he made a new thread because he thought he was keeping things neat. Since he says he won't be using the other ones anymore, you might as well get rid of them.

Anyway, the canines don't look quite right. I think they should be a little less wide and maybe pointier?

Also, yeah, all the previous art threads can be merged with the other "2010 art thread" thing to optimize the space.

Well you don't have to be an asshole about it. Learn to take things gracefully rather than being an asshole about everything that isn't praise.

Otherwise you can just forget about art being your career.

I'm starting work on 2 new outfit designs for Selene based off of input from previous threads.

first one will focus on being more priestess-y, while the other will be more slave-y. I'll be sorting through my DeviantArt character design fav's for inspiration. I've already found a few that I would like to take some cues from...

I also just finished work on an updated female character model for me to work with. If the designs I make end up looking good, I'll use my favorite one of them in a full 3D model of Selene for my Portfolio.

EDIT: Here's that new character base model. It was helpful that I got my hands on the model of Zero Suit Samus from "Metroid: Other M", I was able to look at it as a guide to proportioning this model much more realistically then my previous attempts. It especially helped when I made the new head for her-this one has a much , much nicer polyflow. The hands are new, too, plus this marks the first time I've modeled fingernails onto a hand instead of making it purely textural. She also has much more modestly-sized breasts this time around.
