Help with Bird Tower, please

I'm in the Bird Tower, and I read in a FAQ to throw the orb to the other side of the barrier. But now I think I threw it across the wrong barrier, because I can't get to it. It is on the lower side of the blocks on the left, the ones that can be lowered by hitting a switch. I think I should have thrown it across the barrier in the lower right corner instead...

Does anyone know how to undo this damage?

You should be able to get to it through an alternate passage. I believe there's an alternate route that can be accessed by going to the left of the map and down, then right.
