Yeah, BotW has some good sounding recipes in it. If only it were as simple as it is in the game.

well idk about you guys but when I cook I basically just throw things in an iron pot and hum to myself for a few seconds and then it's dinnertime

I fucking love the cooking system in this game, though. It is actually not that different to my own methods, as I also often throw what seem like might be complementary ingredients together and see what happens

I remember the first time I cooked a fairy. I was like "let's see if the game will let me do it". It felt bad. I'm pretty sure I cooked her alive.

lmao GD XD

Yeah, that's pretty horrible. I've never tried cooking a fairy because I thought it would be too cruel.

Cooking in BotW is a fun addition that played well to the other mechanics. However, in practice, I found that the elaborate recipes weren't really worth the time/effort. Pretty much you just need a few simple recipes to help you deal with hot or cold climates, and then a ton of Hearty-based and Endura-based items to boost your health and stamina. Everything else felt unnecessary.

I wouldn't be upset if they kept cooking in the future and refined the idea further.

I enjoy cooking in Breath of the Wild, but I wish that I could keep a checklist of previous recipes. I can't keep track of what I've cooked.

Yessss. A recipe book of some kind. That would have really improved things.

Have any of you tried recreating the recipes in real life? They are surprisingly good... if you know how to cook.

yeah but they don't make me go faster or give me the ability to run around in my underwear during a snowstorm

I mean I GUESS if I ate a ton of really spicy thai food really quickly and then went outside immediately I might be able to enjoy the effect for like 15-30 seconds

You just have to pretend! However, the spicy peppers made me sweat, so I guess it could have really warmed me up!

I've played this game too much. The last time I went to the local Zaxby's I noticed they had "spicy fried mushrooms" on the menu, so I had to order them in case they increased my cold resistance.

On another note, I think Nintendo has noticed the concerns about cooking fairies. Recently I noticed the little gameplay tips thing that shows during loading specifies that the fairy "helps you cook" instead of being cooked into the dish.
