Default So I finally got around to beating OoT Master Quest

The dungeons were certainly harder, but honestly a lot of it was due to deliberately bad level design. Not sure how to feel.

I gave up on it roughly midway through Lord Jabu-Jabu. It's impressive that they managed to restructure the game in that way, under such tight restrictions, but I don't really think of it as anything more than a curiosity.

Quite an accomplishment! I think I got up to the first temple myself. I remember being disappointed it didn't have all the other "Ura Zelda" content that was supposed to be included originally.

Oh, Niroht.

Sweet, simple Niroht.

Ura Zelda was a planned expansion for OoT that would have been made possible by the 64 Disk Drive. The extra storage space and rewritable disks would have been used to not only offer rearranged dungeons, but also some added game events and challenges. But when the 64DD was DOA in Japan, they canceled those plans, and it wasn't until the Master Quest bonus disc came out for Gamecube that we got a limited sampling of what could have been.

The Nintendo 64 Disk Drive was a long-planned extension for the Nintendo 64 which would introduce new gameplay possibilities via proprietary higher-capacity rewritable game disks. The disks would expand the ability to store large amounts game data as well as player generated content. In some cases, as with Ocarina of Time, it was planned to have traditional Nintendo 64 game cartridges that would boast expanded features and content when the 64DD and accompanying 64DD disk were connected.

The 64DD was in development for several years before finally launching in Japan late in the Nintendo 64's lifespan in December of 1999. Unfortunately, it failed to generate much player interest and developer support, and plans to release the expansion hardware in other markets were scrapped.

Interestingly, a pre-production version of the North American version of the 64DD, something long believed to not exist, was discovered by a collector earlier this year.

....Wait. Are you... Are you Wikipedia-ing me?!
