Nintendo Game Pack Cards Print E-mail
Thursday, 20 July 2006
Ah, merchandising. Back in the 1980's, there was just about every kind of merchandise you could think for the Nintendo Entertainment System and its top stars, Link and Mario.

In 1989, the card company Topps got in on the action and published the Nintendo Game Packs. These were packs of five cards with three scratch off game cards, and two sticker cards with "top secret" playing tips on the reverse side. However, on the whole, these tips were rather useless, and most of them basically could be boiled down to "avoid the enemies."

Games featured on these cards included:
  • Double Dragon
  • Punch-Out
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • The Adventure of Link

  • Below are some of the cards that featured the two Zelda games. These cards can be downloaded as a ZIP file in the Other Downloads section.
