OoT 10th Anniversary!

Hey guys! Today just happens to be the 10th Anniversary of the release of the Ocarina of Time! To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to display our previous layout which featured, among others, the original OoT Link himself. None of the links save the Forums and Gallery work, but for now I figured that it would be a cool way to kind of give you guys a blast from the past.

So, Happy Anniversary OoT! Until next time LoZ'ers!

iOcarina

Ah Apple, how much I hate them. Still, every now and then they do something cool. An example you ask? Well, they have an Ocarina app on the iPhone now for one. Partial credit Apple, partial credit. Costing only 99c, the app works by blowing into the microphone and pressing your fingers on the screen. Apple geeks everywhere will now be playing Epona's Song and looking longingly into the distance... The idea sounds pretty cool, but its hard to say whether it works well or not...if you have an iPhone, feel free to check it out and let us know how it works.

DS Shipments Surpass GBA

Remember the GBA? Sure, it wasn't that long ago. Remember how super popular it was, and how it sold heaps and heaps of units? Well, the DS has now sold more, according to Nintendo's financial results for the first half of this financial year. There have now been over 84 million DS units shipped, compared to around 81 million gameboy advance. Considering the DS still has a lot of steam, and a redesign, up its sleve, it may even be able to challenge the mammoth 118 million record for handhelds held by the original Game Boy. On the software side, the DS has shipped over 450 million games.

The fun doesn't stop there for Nintendo though, with Wii sales continuing strongly. Now over 34 million Wii's have been shipped, already passing the lifetime sales of the Nintendo 64, and well on track to beat the nearly 50 million sold by the Super Nintendo. Hell, it will probably top the original NES's 62 million and keep rolling. What is the secret to these massive sales? Well if game sales tell us anything (and they do) it is of course all the casual games Nintendo has been making recently. More people can't be wrong...right? Let us know what you think of Nintendo's massive sales over on the forums!

Miyamoto Hints At "New and Fresh" Zelda

The Wii and DS have brought a lot of new and innovative games to their systems, as well as introducing new ways of approaching traditional games. But our lord and saviour Shigeru Miyamoto has today stated that he feels old franchises like Mario and Zelda need to have a "newer and fresher" feel to them.

What does this mean? Hell if I know, but at the very least you would expect that it means that the next Zelda title, currently in production, will head in a new and innovative direction. Of course, this is either terrific or terrible news, depending on your faith in Nintendo being able to shake up a series like Zelda and still maintain the core elements of the series that we love so much. Having said that, most people will agree after Twilight Princess that the series needs to be taken in a new direction to some extent, and now it certainly sounds as if this is happening. What are your thoughts on this? Should Zelda game continue along the same, traditional path, or should something revolutionary with the series be attempted? Sound off over on the forums.
