In a recent interview, Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that the controls for the Wii version of Zelda: Twilight Princess have indeed changed.
At E3 2006, players shot arrows by aiming with the remote and then firing the arrows by pressing the D-pad. Miyamoto felt it was too difficult to shoot arrows with the D-pad, so now you fire using the B-trigger button instead. Very cool, huh?
Well probably even cooler is the news that Link's sword attack controls have changed! At E3 you used the B-trigger to swing your sword. Of course, this left some players asking why not use the more obvious choice of actually swinging the remote to swing the sword. Nintendo responded saying that if you consider how often you have to swing your sword in a Zelda game, players could very quickly tire out their arms! But now, Miyamoto reports that they have changed the controls so that you actually do swing the remote to swing the sword. Miyamoto comments "Upon actually playing it, it's more interesting this way."
So good news for those of you concerned about the Wii controls!
