The Oracle Series, consisting of Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, were the first new handheld Zelda games since Link's Awakening. The games were also the first Zelda games to be created by Capcom in conjunction with Nintendo. Capcom would later go on to make all the handheld Zelda games dealing with the Four Swords stories, including Minish Cap.

Both Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages were released on the same day, and could be played as independent adventures. However, if you completed one of the games, you could carry over a special passcode that would allow you to continue your adventure on the other game.

Summoned by the Triforce, Link is spirited away to the withering land of Holodrum. Here Link must battle foes and manipulate the very seasons themselves to free the land and its Oracle of Seasons from the grasp of the twisted General of Darkness, Onox. But all is not as it seems in Holodrum, and even Onox has a dark master he must answer to...
